Two years ago, a woman joined the Academy to prove us wrong.
Her name is Ricci. She'd heard us say, over and over, that people really CAN achieve this. She didn't buy it. So she made a deal with herself: turn in every check-in, finish every food diary, and execute every workout to the best of her ability, so that when it didn't work, she'd have earned the right to call us out on our bullshit.
Her words, by the way.
Two years later, she wrote us this: "This is the first time in my entire life that I have actually been able to experience what true health feels like."
Side note - if part of you read that and thought "good for her, but I'd be the exception," we know.
Almost every application we receive has a version of that sentence in it. You're in the right place.
Here's what Ricci understood by the end, and what we want you to understand before you scroll any further.
Every plan you've ever been handed was built for a version of your life that doesn't exist. Perfect weeks. Empty calendars. Nobody sick, nothing stressful, no travel, no injuries. So when life inevitably life'd, the plan broke, and you wore the blame for it. Carrying that blame has cost you years, and you can put it down now.
And, because we promised never to bullshit you, here comes the other half.
Consistency was the gap. You already know that. When we ask people why it never stuck before, they hardly ever blame the diet. They say things like "I start strong and fall off." "I'm my own worst enemy." "I know what to do, I just can't do it."
That gap has a fix, because consistency is a skill. Like driving. Like cooking. It gets built through structure, repetition and accountability, the same way Ricci built it. Nobody ever taught you that, and it's the entire reason the Academy exists.
And just incase you're wondering, Ricci is the young woman in the third set of photos below. We are the first two :)

You start strong every Monday. By Wednesday you're winging it. By Sunday the week is written off and you're "starting again Monday." You've run that loop so many times you could set a watch by it.
You know what to eat. You know you should train. The gap between knowing and doing is starting to feel personal.
You run a household, a career, a family calendar and a thousand decisions a day. You can do hard things, and you know it. So why can't you do this one?
There's barely a photo of you from the last few years. You've cropped yourself, edited yourself, or stayed behind the camera at every event that mattered.
Your doctor handed you a number you didn't want, told you to "eat healthier," and sent you on your way. No plan. No method. Just the fear.

Half your wardrobe doesn't fit. Getting dressed means 20 agonising minutes hunting for something you can hide in, and throwing the rest out feels like admitting something you refuse to accept.
You've done Weight Watchers (more than once), keto, fasting, shakes, the calorie apps, the 12-week challenges, the PT who never looked up from their phone. Some of it worked for a while. None of it lasted.
You've watched a parent's health decline and you can see the same road pointing at you. You refuse to follow them down it.
Somewhere in your 30s or 40s your body changed the rules. What always worked stopped working, and nobody handed you the new playbook.
And quietly, privately, you're scared this might just be who you are now.

You hit 3pm and need coffee or sugar to function, then come home and graze your way to dinner.

The Weight Loss Podcast Academy is a long-term coaching program built specifically for the person who's already tried everything.
Most programs hand you their rules and wish you luck. We teach you a flexible structure and the skills to run it: what to eat and when, and why. How to train, and why. How to adapt the whole thing when you're sick, sore, busy, travelling, injured or just human. The structure flexes around your life. That's the point of it. Rigid plans are why you're here reading this.
We repeat those skills with you until they're automatic, which is why this works where the 12-week stuff didn't. By the time you finish with us, you can run the entire thing yourself. Your own PT and your own nutritionist, for life. We measure our success by how little you need us at the end.
The whole thing is run personally by us, Matt and Courtney. No assistant coaches. No content team writing replies. No bots. Two people who lost 105kg and 11 clothing sizes between us, who've coached people just like you since 2010, and who actually answer your messages.
It's a long-term coaching program built specifically for the person who's already tried everything.
Designed to be the last weight loss thing you ever do. Not because of some bold marketing promise, but because by the time you're finished with us, you'll have the skills, the structure and the self-trust to never need another program again.
We don't tell you what to eat. We teach you how to feed yourself, in a way that works in your life, for the rest of your life.
We don't hand you a workout. We teach you how to train. What to do, why, and how to adjust when you're sore, sick, busy, travelling, injured, or just human.
We don't sell you motivation. We build you a structure that holds when motivation isn't there. (Because most weeks, it isn't.)

Most programs throw everything at you on Day One and watch you drown. We build in stages. Each stage holds the next one up.
Stage 1: Your first consistent week
Most people who come to us haven't strung a consistent week together in years. Some never have. So that's where we start. A training habit sized to your actual life. A kitchen set up so the right choices are the easy ones, because if it's easily accessible, you will eat it. We call that the Rule of Proximity, and it's undefeated. And an accountability rhythm that keeps you honest without ever shaming you.
Within weeks you have the one thing no diet ever gave you: proof that you can be consistent.
Stage 2: Habits that hold without willpower
With consistency underway, we layer in the next skills. Eating with freedom instead of guilt. Training with confidence, knowing exactly what to do in any gym, with any equipment, and why you're doing it. Making food decisions on your own without having to ask anyone. Each week you get your Next Right Things to work on. Small, specific, doable.
This is the stretch where it stops feeling like effort, and where the people around you start asking what's changed.
Gillian, one of our long-term clients, put it like this: "I have literally trained in over 10 different gyms while traveling for work, and I'm never at a loss or feeling out of place because I have my plan and know how to adapt exercises depending on what equipment is available."
Stage 3: A plan that survives real life
Stress weeks. Sick weeks. School holidays. The breakup. The 70-hour work week. Everyone has peaks and valleys, and the valleys are where every previous attempt died. So the valleys are what we train for.
You'll have a get-back-on-track protocol that works in hours instead of waiting for Monday. Social Event Survival Guides for the parties, the holidays and the weekends that used to unravel you. And a short list of priorities you never compromise on.
This is the part every other program forgot to teach you, and it's exactly the part that makes it permanent.
This is the part nobody else does properly. Most programs throw all of it at you on Day One and watch you drown. We build it in stages, on top of each other. Each stage holds the next one up.
Stage 1: Your first consistent week
Most people who come to us have never strung a consistent week together in their adult life. We start there.
Together we build a training habit you can actually stick to, a food environment at home that works for you instead of against you, and an accountability system that keeps you honest without being preachy.
Within weeks, you've got the one thing every diet you've ever done failed to give you: proof that you can be consistent.
Stage 2: Habits that hold without willpower
Once consistency is in place, we layer in food freedom (eating without guilt or rules), a body that actually works for you (strong, capable, mobile), and the decision-making confidence to know what to do without having to ask anyone.
This is where it stops feeling like effort. This is where people around you start asking what's different.
Stage 3: A plan that survives real life
Stress weeks. Sick weeks. Holiday weeks. The breakup week. The 70-hour-work week.
We build you the get-back-on-track plan, the stress-proof food system, and the priorities you don't compromise on, so that a bad day or a bad week never blows up the whole thing again.
This is what makes it permanent. This is what every other program forgot to teach you.
This is a 24-month build, and we'll be straight with you about the timeline, because false timelines are half the reason you're still stuck.
Day 30. The shame lifts. You stop blaming yourself, because for the first time you can see the system working. Mornings stop starting with regret.
Day 90. Proof arrives. You've had your first consistent month is beyond you. Hope turns into evidence.
Month 6. Self-trust comes back. You make food and training decisions without relying on "willpower". A bad day stays as a bad day.
Month 12. The cycle breaks. The Monday restart, the on/off swing, the all-or-nothing spiral. The pattern that's run your adult life finally stops running it.
Month 18. It stops being a "program." The training, the food, the planning. It isn't a phase anymore. It's just what you do. People around you start asking what you've changed. You shrug because you don't really know how to explain it. It's just who you are now.
Month 24. You feel like you again. Or like you for the first time, depending on how long it's been. The body is the by-product of all the work we did together on the person.
This is a 24-month build, and we'll be straight with you about the timeline, because false timelines are half the reason you're still stuck.
Day 30. The shame lifts. You stop blaming yourself. You realise it was never a willpower problem. It was a plan problem. And you finally have a plan.
Day 90. Proof arrives. You've had your first consistent month. Hope turns into evidence. You're not "trying" anymore. Things are quietly working.
Month 6. Self-trust comes back. For the first time in years, you trust yourself with a decision. With a meal. With a hard week. You're not white-knuckling. You're choosing.
Month 12. The cycle breaks. You're no longer the person who keeps starting over on Monday. The on/off pattern is just… gone. You can't quite explain how, but it's gone.
Month 18. It stops being a "program." The training, the food, the planning. It isn't a phase anymore. It's just what you do. People around you start asking what you've changed. You shrug because you don't really know how to explain it.
Month 24. You feel like you again. Or like you for the first time, depending on how long it's been. The body is the by-product. The person is the point.
Personal coaching from Matt and Courtney, not staff. Every food diary, every check-in, every awkward question, every "I had a shocker of a week," answered by us. Every week. In Ricci’s words: “We’ve had many uncomfortable conversations, and you’ve seen my worst weeks and best weeks.”
Structured strength training, built around your life. A real program you understand, that progresses as you do, built around your equipment, your schedule, your injuries and your energy. Less than 3% of your week. Laura came to us after cycling through four trainers in three years at her local gym: “I now walk into the gym with total confidence, knowing exactly what to do and why I’m doing it.”
Nutrition coaching without calorie counting or meal plans. Be calorie aware. But don’t count calories. And no, we won’t be weighing you either. When the habits are built, the weight takes care of itself. It always does. We teach you how food actually works and how to build meals you’ll happily eat for life, around the food you actually like. Worth knowing: once Laura learned to prep her own food, she dropped her meal delivery service and now saves over $500 a month. The skills pay for themselves in more ways than one.
A system for the messy middle. The 12-week industry only ever teaches you how to start. We teach the part after that. How to recover from a bad day before it becomes a bad week. How to handle the illness, the holidays, the stressful season at work. How to get back on track in hours, instead of Mondays.
A private community of people exactly like you. Real people, your age, your stage of life, working through the same material with the same two coaches. In Laura’s words: “a judgment-free, highly motivating space that’s made a huge difference in my journey.”
Education that makes you independent. Gillian again: “Everything you do is about helping us to gain the knowledge and skills through repetition to be able to continue to do this on our own when we’ve reached our goals, no matter how long that takes.” We could spend a page explaining the Academy’s education model. She just did it in one sentence.

Bonus 1: The Founder’s Fast Start Call
A personal one-on-one with Matt the moment you’re in. A real call to get you set up, dialled in, and pointed at the right things from Day One.
Bonus 2: The Home Team Briefing
Full disclosure – plenty of people fill in our application without telling their partner, because their partner has watched every other attempt come and go, and they can’t face the “here we go again” conversation. We built this bonus for exactly that. We’ll record a short personal video for the one person whose support matters most to you, your partner, your sister, your best mate, so they understand what you’re doing, why this one is different, and how to back you from Week One.
Bonus 3: The First Win Review
At Day 30, most programs go quiet. You’ll get a dedicated one-on-one call with Matt to review what’s working, fix what isn’t, and map out what’s next. Built-in proof that we’re still here long after the welcome wears off.
Bonus 1: The Founder's Fast Start Call
A personal one-on-one with Matt the moment you're in. Not a welcome email. Not a "video tour." A real call to get you set up, dialled in, and pointed at the right things from Day One.
Bonus 2: The Home Team Briefing
Most people do this alone. You won't. We'll record a short personal video for the one person whose support matters most to you, whether that's your partner, your best friend, your sister, whoever. So they understand exactly what you're doing, why it matters, and how to back you from Week One.

In 1998, Matt was lying in a hospital bed with severe Type-2 Diabetes. 180kg, wearing 7XL, using food and alcohol to cope with how much he hated himself.
The doctors gave him the warning. He ignored it, which nobody ever puts in their marketing, so we just did.
What turned it around had nothing to do with willpower.
Over the years that followed, he learned, slowly and the hard way, the exact skills the Academy now teaches. Structure. Consistency. Getting back on track.
He lost 80kg of fat, beat binge eating, beat binge drinking, and in 2006 his GP looked at his results, said it looked like he'd never had Type-2 Diabetes at all, and took him off every medication.
Courtney's version was quieter, and just as stuck. Years of half-hearted treadmill walks, hoping they'd somehow fix everything. Secret eating. Emotional eating. Binge eating.
Then she got sick of guessing, got qualified, learned how everything actually works, and lost 25kg and four dress sizes. The education-first approach the Academy runs on came directly out of what she wished someone had handed her at the start.
Between us: 105kg and 11 clothing sizes lost, more than 500 people coached one-on-one since 2010, and a program we built because nothing like it existed when we each needed it.

We're going to say what most coaching programs won't.
This isn't for you if you want fast. We do 2-year builds. The first 6 weeks are foundations. The first 12 weeks are habits. The real change lives on the other side of both, and everyone who tells you otherwise is selling you the exact thing that got you here.
This isn't for you if you want soft. We're warm. We're human. We care. We're also direct, and we'll call your bullshit when we see it, because that's what you're paying us for. If you want to be told what you want to hear, this is the wrong place.
This isn't for you if you're not ready to commit for at least 12 months. Anything shorter is just another diet with us watching, and that helps nobody.
This isn't for you if coaching at this level isn't within reach right now. It's a serious investment, and the application spells out exactly what's involved. If the timing is wrong, that's fine. Start with the podcast. It's free, and it's how most of our clients found us. But please don't apply hoping we'll talk you into it. We won't.

You’ll be coached personally by Matt and Courtney for a minimum of 12 months. That includes a structured strength training program, ongoing nutrition coaching (no meal plans, no calorie counting), weekly check-ins and food diary feedback, access to our private client community, and a way of teaching this stuff that’s been refined over 500+ clients since 2010. No staff coaches. No bots. No outsourced anything. You get us.
We read a version of this fear in almost every application. The honest ones say it straight out. One wrote: "If I said ABSOLUTELY I'd be lying." Good. That hedge means you're taking it seriously, and we trust a nervous applicant over a cocky one every time.
Here's what we want you to sit with. Every time you "failed" before, you were alone, running a rigid plan, with nobody watching the pattern happen. This time you'll have a structure that bends instead of breaking, two coaches reading your week every week, and a get-back-on-track protocol for the exact moment you'd normally spiral. The skill you think you're missing is the skill we teach.
Bring the fear with you. Bring the scepticism too. They're welcome here. We want people with well-tuned bullshit radars who just want to be treated like adults and be empowered to eventually do this themselves.
Three answers.
One. We measure success by how little you need us at the end. By the time you finish, you can run the whole thing yourself. Your own PT and your own nutritionist, for life.
Two. We teach a flexible structure. Everything you’ve done before relied on you being motivated and in control of your week. The Academy teaches you to adapt to busy weeks, sick weeks, hormonal weeks, holiday weeks. It survives a bad day.
Three. We’ve been where you are. Matt was 180kg and Type-2 diabetic. Courtney was a secret eater walking on a treadmill, hoping it would fix everything. We know what this feels like from the inside, and we’ll never pretend it’s easy.
Yes, and you've just described a huge slice of our client base. Perimenopause and menopause changes the playing field, but not the rule. The fundamentals still work, they just need adjusting for the new field, and that adjustment is exactly what a coach is for. Strength training also becomes more important with every year past 40, not less. If anything, this is the age the Academy was built for. The basics will work for everyone once you learn them and then learn how to implement them consistently into your life.
If you're sceptical, you should be. 99% of what's out there is BS. We know it, and you know it.
So here's our honest answer. You'll get out exactly what you put in. We won't promise you a kilo a week or a "summer body in 8 weeks." That's the language of people who won't be around when it falls apart.
What we can tell you, from 500+ clients: two outcomes are possible. It works, or you stop before it does. And the entire structure, the weekly check-ins, the accountability, the community, the get-back-on-track protocol, exists to make stopping the hard thing to do. That's why we ask for a minimum 12-month commitment, and why most clients stay 2 to 3 years.
Done right, you're set for life.
You'll feel something shift in the first 30 days. Usually relief, usually mental. Real physical change is more like 90 days.
Real identity change, the "this is just who I am now" piece, usually settles in around month 12 to 18.
We're not going to lie to you about timelines. The work is the work. Believe us when we say from a business standpoint - if we could promise and deliver these results in short times, we'd triple our price and do it immediately. Real change just does not work that way.
You probably know this.
Less than 3% of your week. That's roughly 3 to 4 hours of training plus the weekly check-in and food prep. If a program is asking you for more than that, it's a part-time job, and you'll quit in 6 weeks. The best program is the one you can stick to.
That said, different people have different goals and different amounts of time they can commit per week. We have some people killing it doing 2x sessions in the gym per week. Others are killing it doing 4x sessions. One size does not fit all.
Because we only coach people we can actually help, and we only have so much capacity. Early on we made the mistake of taking everyone and anyone. It lowered the standard for us, for the community, and for the results, and we won’t repeat it. We’d rather take 10 people we can do great work with than 50 we can’t. The application is how we figure out if you and us are a fit. If we’re not, we’ll tell you. If we are, we’ll tell you that too.
We’ll review your application personally. If we think we can help you, we’ll book you in for a call with Matt or Courtney to talk it through properly. The call is a two-way thing. We want to make sure we can deliver, and you want to make sure we’re the right fit. No high-pressure sales pitch. We don’t have time for that, and neither do you.
Side note - if Courtney messages you on Facebook or Instagram afterwards, it’s really her. You’d be surprised how many people assume she’s spam. She’s not.
You've been listening to the podcast. You've read this far. You already know.
This is the work. The real work. The boring, repeatable, no-fluff version that finally sticks because it was built for the life you actually live.
This isn't another option in the weight loss market. It's the way out of it.
Application takes 5 to 10 minutes. We'll review it personally. If it's a fit, we'll get together on a call and figure out next steps.
If it's not, we'll be honest with you about that too.
